The Iron Rail Bed
Fireplace Surrounds & Architectural Features
Where Western Heritage Meets Architectural Artistry
A fireplace is more than a source of warmth. It is the heart of a home, a gathering place, and an opportunity to create something truly extraordinary.
The Western Legacy Fireplace Surround transforms this architectural centerpiece into a remarkable expression of American heritage and handcrafted artistry.
Created by Forged Elegance artist Paul Shepherd, this distinctive design features individually hand-forged steel tiles, each reflecting the character and craftsmanship of traditional metalworking. The rich, dark steel creates a dramatic architectural presence while offering a timeless complement to natural wood, stone, and refined Western interiors.
Above the fireplace, a substantial mantel crafted from historic reclaimed Wisconsin barnwood introduces warmth, texture, and an authentic connection to the past. Its natural grain, weathered character, and aged imperfections provide a striking contrast to the surrounding steel.
Permanently incorporated antique firearms add another layer of Western history and individuality to the design. Thoughtfully integrated into the architectural composition, these distinctive details celebrate the heritage and character of the American West.
Together, the historic timber, handcrafted steelwork, and antique elements create a fireplace that feels both substantial and sophisticated.
Designed to complement luxury mountain retreats, Western ranch estates, and distinctive custom residences, the Western Legacy Fireplace Surround brings together history, craftsmanship, and enduring architectural beauty.
